At Cambridge Friends School, we honor excellence in all that we do, with a belief that social justice, tolerance, and equality are requirements of an excellent education. Our admission process plays a vital role in establishing an inclusive environment where our students have the space to explore their ideas and identities.
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. Our transparent enrollment process will give you a complete understanding of the nurturing environment at CFS and how we bring our educational philosophy to life in our day-to-day activities. What to Expect: Our Admission Process
The admissions process begins with the parent/guardian visit. This is an opportunity for you to tour the school, meet the admission staff, learn more about our programs, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
If you feel CFS may be the right community for your child and your family, the next step is a school visit for your child. Students entering grades Pre-K through 1 will be invited for a visit day assessment, preferably at our group visit day in early January. Applicants entering grades 2-8 will spend a full school day at CFS attending classes with their peers.
For more information and to schedule a visit, please contact our admission office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Families are also asked to submit application materials, including the application form, school records from the past two years (if applicable), recommendation letters based on grade level, and, for middle school students, the student questionnaire.
A $50 application fee is due at the time of application. Fee waivers are available for eligible families.
Applications are due in mid-January. Classroom visits should be completed before this deadline. Further applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the spring and summer, but we highly encourage interested parents to submit their applications before the January deadline.
Our application can be found in our My CFS online portal. To get your login information and begin your application, please fill out our inquiry form.
Children applying for acceptance to our pre-kindergarten program must be 4 years old on September 1 in the year of enrollment. For children entering kindergarten, they must be 5 years old on September 1 in the year of enrollment. All children must be toilet trained to enroll.
Our admissions committee meets to discuss each individual application. The aim of the committee is to bring together a diverse group of children who will be able to learn and grow together in peace and harmony.
We understand that financial issues are a concern for some families, and to that end, over 40% of our student body receives some form of financial aid. Concerned parents can learn more about our financial aid policies and contact us with any additional questions.
Cambridge Friend School does not discriminate on the basis of sex, religion, race, color, national and ethnic origin, or sexual orientation in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid, and other school-administered programs. We follow the Quaker ideas of equality and inclusivity in all that we do, including our enrollment process.
For families meeting the mid-January deadline, decisions will be sent out by mid-March, and selected students have one month to make their final enrollment decision. Siblings of current CFS students are given priority consideration and those decisions will be sent by mid-February.
We begin accepting students from our waitlist in April. Students admitted from the waitlist have two weeks to make their decision. At the start of the new school year the waitlist is closed and the admissions process begins again.
