Secondary School Placement

Cambridge Friends School, a Pre-K through Grade 8 elementary and middle school in north Cambridge, MA, prepares our students for entry into the best high schools in the region and beyond. Our students leave CFS incredibly well prepared for the academic and personal challenges of high school, where they distinguish themselves as students and people of character.

Beginning in the spring of seventh grade, parents receive ongoing guidance from the Secondary School Placement team, consisting of the Head of Middle School, advisors, and classroom teachers. Eighth-graders undergo “mock interviews” so that by the time they attend admission interviews, they can engage in a mature and thoughtful way. Because our class sizes are small and Middle School teachers often “loop” with their students to teach them for consecutive years, our teachers deeply know each individual student, and that knowledge is reflected in their recommendation letters. Furthermore, the Head of Middle School visits each secondary school to introduce Cambridge Friends School and advocate for our applicants. For these reasons, Cambridge Friends School has an excellent reputation and acceptance rate at the top area high schools.

Black Lives Matter

In light of the tragic events, CFS will be hosting a Virtual Vigil/Meeting for Worship on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:30 pm to honor the lives of Tony McDade, George Floyd, and Admaud Arbery, as well as all those who have perished unjustly. Please click here to register in advance.
