Beth Boelter-Dimock

Beth Ann Boelter-Dimock is the Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Teacher at CFS. She has been teaching at CFS since 2000.

Beth loves how Quaker schools deeply value each individual, and when she saw that CFS combined that deep value with the celebration and respect for community and a commitment to the Peace testimony, she felt like she had found her educational home. At CFS, she finds that there is room for children’s spirits, hearts, and minds.

In her time at CFS, Beth has focused on Early Childhood education as a classroom teacher and an Early Childhood Cluster Coordinator, and developed curriculum for Grades Pre-K through second grade. In past years, Beth has served as a peer leader of a study group examining bias, a member of the faculty Quaker Life and Education Committee, and a coordinator with the Board of Trustees committee on publications and professional development.

Beth is a recipient of the Dody Waring grant for professional development, where she created science investigation materials for the Pre-Kindergarten classroom involving light and water.

Beth did her undergraduate studies at Curry College in Milton with a concentration in literature, psychology, as well as a minor in philosophy, and also was a writing tutor. After college, she started as an assistant teacher at an independent elementary school  discovered that the dynamic learning community was where she wanted to be, so she returned to school to get her Masters of Education. As part of her Masters program at Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA, Beth was a student teacher at a Harvard-affiliated preschool for grades 1/2, focusing on conflict resolution and peace education. A teacher there exploded her understanding of what four and five year olds could engage in. Through this work, Beth came to see how fundamental and foundational those years of school are for children and how they set the tone for the ownership, investment, and self-direction students feel about their education.

Beth currently lives a pleasantly bikable distance from CFS with her wife Katy, daughter Saoirse, and a dog and two cats. Her shed has a growing collection of woodworking tools as she continues her maker aspirations to build furniture and beautiful things from wood.
