Why Give to CFS?

Cambridge Friends School has been educating young minds in the Quaker Education tradition for over 60 years. CFS graduates are academically accomplished, grounded, thoughtful, compassionate, and work to contribute toward greater justice and understanding in the world. By supporting Cambridge Friends School, you’re making it possible for the next generation of CFS students to become intrepid questioners, lifelong learners, change-makers for good, and champions for greater justice and understanding in the world.

Gifts to Cambridge Friends School support our overall mission, including:

  • bringing together a diverse school community through financial aid,
  • keeping our excellent teachers abreast of current research through professional development,
  • supporting the daily work of educating students in classrooms, on field trips, and through service learning opportunities,
  • and more!

Thank You to Our Supporters!

Like all independent schools, Cambridge Friends depends upon the generosity of its community to sustain and advance the mission of the School. Every student and faculty member at CFS benefits from the gifts that we receive.

Here are some recent things made possible through donations to the Annual Fund:

  • Support for Financial Aid, which helps close the funding gap for the regular school day, Extended Day programs, and the Strings program
  • New books for the Cambridge Friends School Library
  • Support for student Affinity Groups
  • Professional Development workshops and speakers for teachers and administrators
  • Covering conference attendance costs for conferences like the NAIS People of Color Conference, AISNE Middle School DEIB conference for students, Friends Council Educators new to Quakerism training, and more
  • Off-campus outings and overnight trips
  • New trees and plantings around campus
  • … and much more!

Without the donations of thousands who came before us, Cambridge Friends School would not be here today. In fact, generous gifts allowed us to open in 1961, and donations paid the salaries of our first teachers. Every year since then, donations have built the school and community that we treasure today.

My family gives to Cambridge Friends School because we support its mission and values. We believe that giving to the Annual Fund is a great way to demonstrate our personal commitment to integrity, equality, and community. The support of donors helps CFS fulfill its educational mission and be true to its Quaker Principles.

Amory Wakefield, Current Trustee and CFS Parent, Class of 2020

CFS played an important part in shaping my outlook on the world and my role in it. The school’s Quaker values made me more empathetic towards other perspectives and made me want to help those less fortunate. Without my nine years at CFS, I don’t think I would be the same member of the community, person, or friend that I am today.

Alex Russell, CFS Class of 2000

We've really enjoyed the community of families at CFS and everyone's openness and kindness. Our kids have thrived in their classrooms, and have found their own path despite having very different personalities.

Current Kindergarten and 2nd grade Parent

We give to CFS because we believe in the school's mission to provide a strong academic experience, grounded in the Quaker principles of simplicity, peace, integrity, community equality/equity and stewardship. We see the positive impact CFS has had on our children on a daily basis.
