Family-School Partnership
Empowering Families through Partnership
At Cambridge Friends School, we see our role as partner with our students’ families, an extension of the care and engagement that students receive from their families outside the school day.
We’re here to empower families in their child’s learning and growth. Throughout the day, students are surrounded by caring adults who are there to support and guide them, to challenge and encourage, to cheer their successes. Many aspects of our program are there to support the student AND the family, including:
-
Early drop-off starting at 7:15am
-
Pick up as late at 5:45pm
-
Childcare at family school events
-
Weekly newsletter with updates from the Head and goings-on at school
-
A program centered on open communication and shared core values
And our teachers are there to connect and partner with parents and guardians. They collaborate with families in all sorts of ways, including:
- greeting at the classroom door in the morning and afternoon
- reviewing the student’s work and growth for the term in teacher conferences
-
thorough written reports about their student’s progress
- holding fall and spring classroom potlucks where families can see student work in the classroom and meet other families
- listening conference to learn about each child before the year even starts
-
… and too many more to name!
And we invite families to be part of the life of the school through events and gatherings. Throughout the year, there are many ways to get involved at Cambridge Friends:
- Student Assemblies like Indigenous People’s Day, MLK Legacy Assembly, and the Pride Assembly
- discussion groups and talks
- fun family events like Fall fest and community potlucks
- cheering on the CFS Lightning during sports games
- after-school gatherings like cocoa afternoon in winter or popsicle day in the spring.
There are also opportunities to be more deeply involved with the school by joining the Family Association or other administrative groups that support the health and growth of the school.
Families are part of the life-blood of Cambridge Friends and an integral part of their student’s education!
