Lower School uses Zoom and Google Classroom for classes, Morning Meeting, Meeting for Worship (both in classroom and with the entire Lower School), one-on-one student check-ins to support student learning, and the submission of student work for evaluation and feedback. Teachers offer between one and four synchronous blocks four days per week, based on grade level. Online class sessions vary in length depending on the subject and task, supported by asynchronous work that includes teachers posting assignments and activities with written instructions, pre-recorded lessons, or providing online materials.
Learning Specialists continue to provide support to students online, and we have expanded this offering with our Extended Day (XD) staff who are available during blocks in the afternoon for academic support. An overarching Lower School Google Classroom also provides additional activities including building challenges, pre-recorded read alouds, and passion projects. Social-emotional lessons are also offered online by our Lower School Counselor, and large and small teacher-facilitated online gatherings support student social interactions and connections to the community.
