GO GIRLS!
Go Girls! was a new program this winter, although there are some thoughts about possibly running it through both winter and spring next year. The program gave our girls the opportunity to connect across grades and outside the classroom and to have fun exercising and team-building together. Favorite activities were scooter soccer, volley ball, netball, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, and
|
... badminton.
Each class ended with a project called “The Year Was,” in which the girls read and shared information about women pioneers and athletes today and in history. The individuals chosen were ones who dared to do something that was not considered “feminine” at that time. The girls also discussed important legislation, such as Title IX and the women's movement, both of which helped shift the mindset of what a woman’s role should be.
Go Girls! was a huge success.
