Library
Welcome to the library! We think of the library as the heart of the school, and you’ll find it a very busy, vibrant, and, yes, on occasion, noisy place. Students in all grades have regular classes here, and the library also welcomes students, teachers, and families throughout the day to find books and answers. As fellow teachers, we support the classroom teachers and other specialists by providing a wide range of materials chosen to further the mission and enrich the diverse and challenging curriculum of the Cambridge Friends School. We approach literature and learning in many, many ways – with books, technology, storytelling, art, and drama. We strive to foster a love of reading from students’ earliest experiences with literature to their emergence as independent, life-long, enthusiastic readers. The library curriculum is designed so that each year’s learning and reading build on earlier work. As students move from grade to grade, they increase their knowledge of literary genres, library organization, reference materials, and electronic resources so that they become confident users of not only our library but of public libraries as well.
