All-School Assemblies and Lower School Community Meetings

The content of All-School Assemblies reflects the school’s mission and curriculum. Faculty and students are actively involved in organizing and developing the content for assemblies. Students assume leadership roles in planning portions of assemblies, in presenting their work or performing for the community, and in taking on the role of emcees.

Careful thought is given to making sure that the content is meaningful and accessible to students at all grade levels, as well as to families and visitors who may attend. Several assemblies are specifically designed to support the school’s antiracism and antihomophobia mission. These include the Gay and Lesbian Pride Assembly, the Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly, and the Festival of African Drum and Dance. All assemblies encourage the development of community within the school and are developed keeping the school’s Quaker Testimonies (Equality, Peace, Integrity, Community, and Simplicity) in mind.
