Explorium Emporium! is the Cambridge Friends School 2007-2008 Spring Fundraising Auction. It is the second-most ambitious fundraising initiative undertaken by the school community this year. Q. Why do we need another fundraising initiative? A. The gap between the true cost of a CFS education and the tuition is several thousand dollars per student. Additionally, roughly 28% of students benefit from our tuition assistance program. In order to maintain the school’s standard of academic excellence and fund financial aid packages, we need to engage in a sustained program of fundraising activities. For more information regarding development, please contact Suzanna Schell, director of development, at sschell@cfsmass.org. Q. Will there be parking available? A. Yes. There are several public parking lots in the area. Directions and rates will be provided here at a later date. Q. What is the dress code? A. Attire is “Casual Festive.” The most important thing is that you are comfortable. Q. Are children invited? A. Not to this event. But CFS students will have many opportunities to contribute to the success of event – you will feel their presence all around you! Q. When can I find out what the silent auction Items are? A. Once all donations have been received and their descriptions finalized, an Auction Guide will be printed and distributed. The target date for this is March 15, 2008. Q. Will some items feature a “Buy it Now!” opportunity? A. Yes! Some items in the silent auction will feature a “Buy it Now!” (BIN) opportunity. This means that, for a price predetermined by the Auction Committee and listed right on the bidding sheet, bidders can ensure that they will get the item. Once a BIN bid has been properly made on a bidding sheet, the bidding for that item will be closed.
